About Xolara
In 1994, Gemini Productions was formed as an independent publisher of local zines and artist contribution magazines. In addition to our freely distributed publications, Gemini Productions gathered musicians and other artistic audiophiles for colaborative projects. Gemini Productions was the name of an ideal that existed only loosly as an identity for all of the independent artists who participated in the creation of collaborative works.
In 1996, Gemini Productions changed directions completely, focusing on film and video production. We got bit by the bug, and we've never looked back. We remained Gemini Productions until 1998 when we assumed the name Gemini Media.
In 2002 we totally revamped the company once more, and changed the name completely - laying to rest the long legacy of Gemini. Besides filmmaking and storytelling, we have an unreal fascination with astronomy, which led to the creation of our new name.
Xolara is a play on words. Zo is Japanese for "Life." Solar is one of those astronomical bodies that infatuate us, and is also what makes cinematography possible (writing with light), not to mention life itself. And finally, we took all of these parts and gave it a human-like name: Xolara - our creation - which represents all that is beautiful in our strange universe! We hope that we can share with you our fascination and love for our world through the work that we do! |
